CAE Application Engineer
About This Role
About the Opportunity
Our client is an established engineering partner and authorized reseller for the world's leading CAE, CAD, and PLM platforms, including the Altair, Siemens Digital Industries, and Powersim portfolios. For 15+ years they've helped 200+ engineering organizations across Canada deploy simulation technology and get real results from it. They're not a license shop: their engineers embed in customer workflows, run benchmarks, deliver training, and take on simulation projects directly.
They're growing the technical team and looking for an Application Engineer who is equal parts simulation expert and trusted advisor.
The Role
As a CAE Application Engineer, you are the technical face of the business. You'll help engineering teams evaluate, adopt, and master tools across the structural FEA, CFD, electromagnetics, and power electronics space. The work spans pre-sales technical support, hands-on training, implementation, and billable consulting, turning powerful software into validated engineering outcomes for clients.
What You'll Do
Run technical demonstrations, proof-of-concept studies, and benchmarks that show customers the value of the simulation portfolio. Deliver training, from onboarding to advanced workflows, on-site and virtually, tailored to each client's real projects. Support deployments end to end: installation, solver configuration, license setup, and workflow automation. Take on consulting engagements directly, delivering validated models, results, and decision-ready reports. Act as the technical bridge between customers, the sales team, and the software vendors. Build automation and custom workflows (e.g. Python APIs) that make customer teams faster.
What You Bring
Required
Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or a related engineering discipline. 5+ years of hands-on experience with one or more CAE domains: structural FEA, CFD, electromagnetics, or power electronics simulation. Strong working knowledge of at least one major platform (e.g. Altair HyperWorks, Simcenter, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, NX, or equivalent). Solid grasp of the underlying engineering physics. You can explain why a result matters, not just how to generate it. Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting to engineers and decision-makers alike.
Nice to Have
Experience in a customer-facing, pre-sales, or technical consulting role. Scripting / automation skills (Python preferred) for workflow customization. Exposure to HPC, cloud compute, or license management (FlexLM / RLM). Domain depth in aerospace, automotive/EV, power electronics, industrial machinery, or electronics cooling. Bilingual (English / French) an asset.
Why This Role
Work across the full breadth of best-in-class simulation technology rather than a single tool. Solve genuinely varied engineering problems across aerospace, EV, energy, and advanced manufacturing. Direct vendor relationships and certification pathways with the leading CAE software providers. A small, technically deep team where your work is visible and your expertise drives the business. Competitive compensation, flexible / hybrid work, and continuous professional development.
