Technical Project Manager

About This Role

Technical Project Manager

Location: Remote (North American business hours) Type: Full-time

About the Company

Our client is a software studio that designs, builds, and ships production applications for clients across manufacturing, industrial, and B2B SaaS. They take projects from scoping and estimation through architecture, delivery, and long-term support. Their work spans data platforms, internal tooling, configurators and quoting systems, and AI-powered products. They are a small, senior team that values clear thinking, strong ownership, and shipping work they are proud of.

The Role

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to own the delivery of client engagements end to end. You will be the person who keeps projects on time, on scope, and on budget, who keeps clients informed and confident, and who keeps engineers unblocked and focused. You are the connective tissue between what the client needs, what the team is building, and what the company committed to.

This is a delivery role for someone technical enough to call a realistic timeline, spot scope creep before it becomes a problem, and have a credible conversation with both a client and an engineer. You will not be writing production code, but you should understand how software gets built well enough to manage it without being managed.

What You Will Do

  • Own delivery across multiple concurrent client projects: timelines, scope, budget, and risk.
  • Run the cadence that keeps work moving: planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives, kept lightweight and useful.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing expectations and communicating progress, tradeoffs, and changes clearly.
  • Translate between client needs and engineering reality, and protect the team from churn and unclear requirements.
  • Spot scope creep, schedule risk, and budget drift early, and handle them directly rather than letting them compound.
  • Keep engineers unblocked: clear dependencies, chase decisions, and remove friction so the team can build.
  • Work with the founding team on scoping, estimation, and resourcing so commitments are realistic before they are made.
  • Track delivery health and report it honestly, internally and to clients.

What We Are Looking For

  • 4+ years managing software delivery, ideally in an agency, studio, or consulting environment with multiple clients.
  • A track record of shipping projects on time and on budget while keeping clients happy.
  • Enough technical fluency to scope realistically, push back on unrealistic timelines, and talk credibly with engineers.
  • Strong client-facing communication: you can deliver good news, bad news, and tradeoffs with equal clarity.
  • Calm under pressure and decisive when projects get messy, which they sometimes will.
  • Strong organizational instincts and the discipline to keep many moving parts visible and under control.
  • Ownership: you drive delivery without waiting to be told what is at risk.

Nice to Have

  • A background in software engineering or a closely technical field.
  • Familiarity with common modern stacks (Laravel, Vue, AWS and Azure) at a conceptual level.
  • Experience managing fixed-scope and fixed-budget engagements, where estimation discipline matters.
  • Experience with manufacturing, industrial, or B2B SaaS clients.
  • Comfort with modern, lightweight, and AI-assisted project workflows.
  • Experience managing both client delivery and internal product timelines.

Why Join

  • Real ownership over delivery, not a coordinator role buried under process.
  • Direct line to the founding team and to clients, with the trust to make calls.
  • Remote-first with flexible hours and a focus on outcomes over hours logged.
  • Variety: multiple clients, domains, and project types rather than one long program.
  • A chance to shape how a growing studio runs delivery, with room to build the playbook.

How to Apply

Send a short note about your background, a project you delivered that was at risk and how you brought it back on track, and how you like to work with engineering teams and clients. All applications will be reviewed and you'll receive a response.
