Product Owner

About the Company

Our client is a software studio that designs, builds, and ships production applications for clients across manufacturing, industrial, and B2B SaaS. They take projects from scoping and estimation through architecture, delivery, and long-term support. Their work spans data platforms, internal tooling, configurators and quoting systems, and AI-powered products. They are a small, senior team that values clear thinking, strong ownership, and shipping work they are proud of.

The Role

We are looking for a Product Owner to sit between clients, the engineering team, and the products being built. You will turn ambiguous business problems into clear, prioritized, buildable work. You will own the backlog, write the specs, run the rituals that keep delivery on track, and make the call on what gets built next and why.

This is a hands-on product role in a delivery-focused studio. You will not be managing a single long-lived roadmap in isolation. You will move across client engagements and internal products, getting deep on each domain quickly, and keeping scope, value, and timeline in balance.

What You Will Do

• Own and prioritize product backlogs across client and internal projects, balancing value, effort, and risk.
• Write clear product requirement documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria that engineers can build from without guessing.
• Translate client and stakeholder needs into well-scoped work, and push back constructively when scope, timeline, or budget are in tension.
• Partner with engineering on technical scoping and estimation, so plans are realistic before commitments are made.
• Run the cadence that keeps delivery moving: planning, refinement, reviews, and stakeholder updates.
• Make prioritization decisions and clearly communicate the reasoning behind them.
• Serve as the primary product point of contact for clients, managing expectations and surfacing tradeoffs early.
• Validate that shipped work solves the actual problem, and feed learnings back into the next iteration.

What We Are Looking For

• 4+ years in a product owner, product manager, or equivalent role delivering software.
• A track record of writing clear specs and breaking large, vague problems into shippable increments.
• Strong prioritization judgment and the ability to defend decisions with reasoning, not just opinion.
• Comfort working closely with engineers: you understand enough about how software is built to scope and estimate realistically and to have credible technical conversations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, especially with non-technical clients and stakeholders.
• Ability to context-switch across domains and ramp quickly on unfamiliar businesses.
• Strong ownership: you drive outcomes without waiting to be told what to do.

Nice to Have

• Experience in an agency, studio, or consulting environment serving multiple clients.
• Familiarity with the kinds of products being built: data platforms, configurators, quoting and pricing tools, reporting, and internal operations tooling.
• Exposure to AI-powered products (RAG, retrieval, LLM-driven features) and the product questions they raise around accuracy, cost, and trust.
• Experience working with B2B and industrial or manufacturing customers.
• Familiarity with modern delivery tooling and lightweight, AI-assisted product workflows.
